How to Humanize ChatGPT Text for Free

ChatGPT produces clean, readable text — but it gets flagged almost every time. Not because detectors are magic, but because ChatGPT has deeply consistent writing habits that are easy to identify statistically. Here is exactly what those habits are and how to fix them.

Why ChatGPT Text Gets Detected

ChatGPT defaults to the same patterns every time it generates text:

How to Humanize ChatGPT Text Manually

Fix sentence length. Pick three consecutive sentences and change one dramatically — cut it to 5 words, or expand it into two with a new clause. Do this every few paragraphs.

Vary sentence openers. Find every sentence that starts with "The", "This", or "It" and rewrite the opening. Start with "For most people," or "Back in 2020," or "Frankly," or just cut the opener entirely.

Delete every transition phrase. Go through the whole text and cut "Furthermore," "Moreover," "In addition," "It is worth noting." Replace with nothing, or with a direct short sentence that states the point plainly.

Add contractions throughout. Do a find-and-replace: "it is" → "it's", "do not" → "don't", "cannot" → "can't", "they are" → "they're". This is fast and has a big impact on detection scores.

Break the list habit. If you see three items listed in sequence, convert one of them into a standalone sentence or cut it entirely. Detectors flag clustered parallel structure heavily.

Humanize ChatGPT Text in Seconds

Doing this by hand on a 1,000-word essay takes 45 minutes or more. Natural Quill handles all of it automatically — paste your ChatGPT output, set the strength to 80%, and convert. The tool is built specifically to target the patterns ChatGPT produces, and the first 400 words are completely free.
